Lake Forest Plumbing- Plumbing Tips – Proper Use Of The Garbage Disposal
Sunday, January 29th, 2012Not having a waste disposal unit, people would be taking their garbage out frequently. Left over foods that are left in trash cans would attract bugs and will also start to become smelly as early as tomorrow morning. The waste disposal unit takes charge on that matter, in many situations. Put the left over food down the drain, turn on the switch, and presto, the food is cut up and sent on its way. Unluckily, the waste disposal unit can’t be use in everything, not proper using of this appliance may lead to a serious plumbing problem. These are the things that should never put in the disposal.
To prevent plumbing problems, never put any kind of rice or pasta into the waste disposal unit. These rice and pasta cannot be chopped up beyond a point and that is not enough to remove its water-soaking properties. Because of these properties, pasta and rice tend to swell up and get caught in the trap below the disposal. If you already acquire enough bits, it can cause the trap and may lead to clogging. Just put the leftover rice and pasta at the garbage. It won’t draw any bugs unlike other leftover foods,it also doesn’t have a bad smell the next morning unless covered in a degradable sauce.
The next thing is, you should also don’t put any kind of grease down your kitchen draining system. Doing it usually may clog your kitchen drain. Grease will get in to the wall of your pipes and will eventually dries out, that creates a thick mold of fats where water can’t flow anymore. You can prevent this from happening if you avoid putting grease down the kitchen drain. If it’s just a few amount of grease, you can place it in a jar and throw it in trash.
Bones of steak and chicken should never be put down the disposal. This is a destruction to replace the disposal at once. The blades of the disposal area are quite very able at cutting up smaller parts of soft food, but they are not hard enough to deal with animal bones. Dispose it off and be save on buying a new waste disposal system.
Some plumbing problems at the kitchen can be prevented by using some appliances like the garbage disposal in a very careful way. Even if it’s the most useful and helpful appliance in the kitchen, don’t expect it to do magics. There are times, that the garbage bin is the best substitute.
